The Kansas City Chiefs have made several roster moves ahead of their Week 2 contest with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In an expected move, the Chiefs announced they've activated star DT Chris Jones to the 53-man roster. This means that his roster exemption no longer counts, and he'll count against both the salary cap and the 53-man roster.
In a corresponding move, the team waived CB Darius Rush, who they claimed from the Indianapolis Colts during 53-man roster cuts. This was a bit of a surprising decision, but he could wind up back on the practice squad as early as next week, assuming that he's not claimed.
The team also made two practice squad elevations, with DT Matt Dickerson and RB La'Mical Perine getting called up to the 53-man roster.
Perine's elevation suggests that RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who is dealing with an illness that caused him to miss two practices, is unlikely to play. Perine was a big-time standout for Kansas City during the preseason, so he'll get a chance to prove himself again in Week 2.
Dickerson's elevation is likely some insurance for Chris Jones. He's expected to play in Week 2, but he could wind up on a pitch count depending on how he feels during the course of the game. This is the second consecutive week that Dickerson has been elevated to the 53-man roster. He'll only have one elevation remaining before he runs out of standard elevations.
The fact that the team did not elevate TE Matt Bushman this week tells you that TE Travis Kelce is expected to play in Week 2 against the Jaguars.
