Bengals’ losing record shouldn’t prevent 2 of their players from receiving Pro Bowl consideration as fan voting opens
A couple Bengals players are worth your Pro Bowl votes this season.
It’ll take a six-game winning streak to end the regular season for the Cincinnati Bengals to get back over .500. It hasn’t been a dream season by any means, but when it comes to Pro Bowl voting, team success should not be anywhere the front of voter’s minds.
Despite their losses severely outweighing their wins, Cincinnati does have a couple players playing at a Pro Bowl level. It’s only right we recognize who should be racking up votes from Bengals fans and others alike with fan voting officially open.
Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase, CB DJ Turner II deserve your Pro Bowl votes
Cincinnati No. 1 wide receiver and No. 1 cornerback are each playing phenomenal football right now. You’d think practice would be electric with these two squaring off every week.
Ja’Marr Chase is a four-time Pro Bowler and is on track for his fifth honor this year. He’s caught passes from three different quarterbacks this season and is still in the top five in two of the three major receiving categories. He’s third in receptions (79), fifth in yards (861), and tied for 15th in touchdowns (5) despite missing a game due to suspension.
Chase has become a nationwide star and his reputation alone can carry him to his fifth Pro Bowl, an honor only five other Bengals have ever achieved in franchise history.
DJ Turner II does not have that effect attached to his name, but he’s worthy this year all the same.
Turner has been so dominant getting his hands on passes targeted his way. He leads the NFL in passes defensed (15) and has two interceptions to boot. When he’s not getting targeted, his coverage has been at a high level. He’s simply been one of the best defensive backs this season on a defense that has not played well around him.
The timing for Turner couldn’t be better as he’ll be entering a contract season next year. A Pro Bowl nod could do wonders for him negotiating an extension with Cincinnati, though we’ve all seen how unnecessarily tedious those can be with the front office.
Chase and Turner can elevate their cases over the final six weeks of the season, but if you’re voting right now, they are the clear choices to get Bengals representation in the upcoming Pro Bowl.
