Change is coming for the Cincinnati Bengals. Whether they sneak into the playoffs or not, that the season has gotten to this point with the way Joe Burrow has played calls for significant roster turnover at the bare minimum. Many of the starters from Week 1 will no longer be in Cincinnati by the time April comes around.
If Saturday night is truly the end of the season, then it's time to recognize who may be on the way out.
Excluding injured players such as Sam Hubbard and Sheldon Rankins, here are a handful of notable Bengals who could be donning the Orange and Black one last time this weekend.
WR Tee Higgins
Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and the rest of Cincinnati don't want this to be the case, but Higgins could very well be closing out his Bengals career on Saturday. The 25-year old has been one of key components towards the team's renaissance in recent years and is set to secure generational wealth this offseason no matter his final destination. One more spectacular showing won't hurt in his pursuit towards that goal.
There's been plenty of momentum recently towards Higgins re-signing with Cincinnati in the coming months. For now, we'll treat the possibility of his departure with the seriousness it deserves. He's one of the team's best players, after all. He deserves a proper send off if this is truly it.
TE Mike Gesicki
Gesicki's only been here for a year, but he's proven to be the most effective of the last three one-year rental tight ends brought in by the Bengals. Three receptions and three yards will make him the fourth tight end in franchise history to record 60 receptions and the 10th to cross 600 yards in a season. Only two others have done both in a single year.
There's no doubt that Gesicki has been the best free agent signed by the team this past offseason. Both sides should be interested in another deal this offseason, but the 29-year old will have the chance to cash in elsewhere if it gets to that point. Until the Bengals show the willingness to go beyond one-year deals at the position, Gesicki leaving town is a very real outcome.
RG Alex Cappa
Unlike Higgins and Gesicki, Cappa's contract is not expiring this offseason. His four-year deal runs through the end of the 2025 season, but it would be a major upset if the Bengals keep him around beyond March. Cappa is nowhere near the player he was when the club signed him at the beginning of free agency back in 2022. Injuries have greatly diminished his athleticism to the point where he's statistically one of the worst starting interior offensive linemen in terms of pass-protection. His Pass Blocking Efficiency score of 96.1 ranks 57th out of 59 starting guards this season, per Pro Football Focus.
Cincinnati desperately needs to upgrade both guard spots this offseason and can use the cash they'd save from releasing Cappa to help accomplish that. He was a quality signing for two years, but that time has passed.

DT B.J. Hill
Back to some impending free agents, Hill is set to turn in a solid-yet-unspectacular season as the leader of an underwhelming defensive tackle group in Cincinnati. He still has value in a rotation, but with his age-30 season on the horizon, the Bengals typically look for alternatives instead of re-upping defensive linemen at that point in their careers. Sometimes it's wise, sometimes it burns them. Their decision-making process is consistent nonetheless.
Replacing Hill will be one of the club's top priorities this offseason. Kris Jenkins Jr. and McKinnley Jackson are nice starting pieces, but they'll need much more to fill Hill's shoes going forward.
CB Mike Hilton
Hilton has already entered his 30s and remains really good at what he specializes in: Blitzing from the slot and causing havoc. For that reason alone, Cincinnati might make an unexpected push to bring him back, especially with how much disarray the secondary was in this year. But again, when it comes to veterans looking for third contracts, the Bengals aren't going to be handing out attractive offers. Hilton will have other options he'll need to consider.
It's fitting Hilton's Bengals career could end with a game against the Steelers, the first team he made a name with. One last hoorah against his old brethren would be awesome to witness.
