To avoid getting swept by the entire AFC North this season, the Bengals will have to defeat one of their former starting quarterbacks still in the league.

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that Jeff Driskel will start in Cincinnati this Sunday.

Driskel, who was signed to the Browns' active roster last week, made his first NFL regular season starts with the Bengals all the way back in 2018. Driskel was Andy Dalton's backup that season when Dalton suffered torn ligaments in his thumb and missed the final five games of the year.

Cincinnati won just one of Driskel's five starts, and it remains the only victory of his career as a starting quarterback. He's since been with the Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and most recently the Arizona Cardinals.

The only reason why Driskel is starting this week is because the Browns do not need to win. They've locked up the No. 5 seed in the AFC Playoff bracket. P.J. Walker, who's started two games for Cleveland this season, will be Driskel's backup while regular starter Joe Flacco will not play at all.

Cincinnati hasn't gone winless against their division opponents in a single season since 2002, the year prior to Marvin Lewis turning the franchise around. They'll have to get past Driskel to avoid that same fate.
