There was no shortage of trash talk between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of last season's AFC Championship showdown.

Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton really got the trash talk going by referring to Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium as "Burrowhead", which was a reference to quarterback Joe Burrow's 3-0 record against Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Hilton's comment set off a wild week of trash talk that seemed to fuel Kansas City's 23-20 win against Cincy.

Kay Adams, the host of "Up and Adams", interviewed Cincinnati's Ja'Marr Chase this week and she asked the superstar wide receiver if he's looking forward to playing the Chiefs in 2023 (Cincinnati and Kansas City meet in Week 17).

Chase admitted that he's excited to play the Chiefs again this season, but he also noted that fans might not hear quite as much trash talk from the Bengals this fall.

"I'm excited for it, I can't wait for it," said a smiling Chase. "I don't want to say too much because we already had Mr. Kelce (Chiefs TE Travis Kelce) come back with something."

The trash talk will still happen according to Chase, it just won't play out in the media like it did last season.

"Oh we're going to talk, we're just not going to keep doing it in the media — there's not a reason for that," explained Chase.

I have a feeling that Chase and the rest of the Bengals might have a different approach by the time Week 17 rolls around. It's easy to say in early August that there won't be any trash talk shared in the media. But once those competitive juices get going during the regular season, I'd say all bets will be off — especially with the Bengals' rematch with the Chiefs coming just before the start of the playoffs.
