The Cincinnati Bengals received some praise this week from CBS Sports that should put the rest of the AFC on high alert.

Bryan DeArdo, an NFL writer for CBS Sports, ranked the five most improved teams in the NFL. He has the Bengals as the No. 5 most improved team this offseason.

From CBS Sports:

The defending AFC champions aggressively addressed last season's biggest weakness by signing veteran offensive linemen Ted Karras, Alex Cappa and La'el Collins. This trio should make life significantly better for Joe Burrow, who led the Bengals to an AFC title last season despite getting sacked a whopping 70 times (including the postseason). Despite last year's subpar protection, Burrow led the NFL in completion percentage while taking full advantage of a deep receiving corps that includes Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd. The Bengals gave Burrow a new weapon — tight end Hayden Hurst — to replace the departed Uzomah.

The Bengals were going to be one of the favorites in the AFC in 2022 regardless of the moves they made during the offseason. That's mostly thanks to the presence of quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase.

But the fact that Cincinnati went out this offseason and made a concerted effort to overhaul their biggest weakness — the offensive line — should scare the rest of the AFC.

The Bengals are in a sweet spot right now with their roster where Burrow and Chase are superstars on rookie contracts. That's what allowed Cincinnati to spend a considerable amount of cash on the offensive line.

Cincy isn't messing around this year. They know the 2022 season will be their best chance in franchise history to bring a Lombardi Trophy back to Ohio. And it's clear they're doing all they can to take advantage of this massive opportunity.
