Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill left Paycor Stadium on Thursday night with an impressive stat line, but he didn't leave with a win.
Hill caught 10 passes for 160 yards and zero touchdowns.
The Cincinnati Bengals' defense, however, made the plays when it counted.
Specifically, safety Vonn Bell made a couple of huge plays.
Bell came down with two key interceptions in the 27-15 Bengals win. One of which came via helping over the top on Hill.
After the game, Bell was asked if he trusts his ball skills.
That's when Bell dropped one of the coldest quotes of the year.
“Go back and check (my time) at Ohio State — you’ll see a lot of interceptions," said Bell. "It’s in my roots.”
That last line — "it's in my roots" — is something you can only say if you're an elite defensive back who produces at a high level.
And Bell, who might be one of the most underrated players in the NFL, certainly does.
The Dolphins found out the hard way that Cincinnati's secondary is no joke.
Hill made some plays — which isn't a surprise considering he's an elite wide receiver — but the Bengals got the last laugh.
And trust me, there was some laughing going down in the Bengals' locker room after the win.
"The whole team — I’m not going to make it about one person or one group — but obviously, when we win, we’re going to be laughing," said cornerback Chidobe Awuzie after the win. "We’re going to be smiling. It was a short week and now we have a long week to prepare for the next team, and that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to celebrate a little bit and have a little bit of fun, but get right back to work.”
Cincinnati gets a few extra days to savor this win, but they'll need to quickly get back to work as a matchup with the Baltimore Ravens awaits in week five.
