The Cincinnati Bengals did something on Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins that they haven't done since the 2017 season.

In the second quarter, Cincinnati rookie Jeff Gunter blocked a 53-yard field goal attempt by the Dolphins.

It was the Bengals' first blocked field goal since a 2017 game against the Denver Broncos (Cincy won that game 20-17).

KeiVarae Russell was responsible for the blocked field goal in 2017. And interestingly, he predicted that he'd block a field goal against the Broncos that week. His teammates had to buy him dinner as a result.

From USA TODAY:

According to Jim Owczarski of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Russell bet teammates he’d get a block: “It’s funny because I made bets all week as far as, just, I bet you dinner or anything, I told guys I’m going block one this week. You’ll owe me a dinner if I block this. I told so many guys. So I’ve got a few dinners set up with a couple guys.”

I don't know if Gunter made a similar bet with his teammates, but he's likely just as happy to make a big contribution for the Bengals in a key spot.
