Instead of opting for offerings from other clubs, linebacker Germaine Pratt took his talents back to the Cincinnati Bengals last week, re-upping for three more years in stripes.
Pratt may play defense for the Bengals, but he knows offensive talent when he sees it.
Enter running back Jahmyr Gibbs.
The former Alabama ballcarrier is one of the top players at his position in this year's NFL Draft.
And according to a tweet Pratt sent in reply to Sports Illustrated's James Rapien, "Gibbs is crazy."
In 2022, Gibbs rushed for 926 rushing yards and accounted for 22% of the Crimson Tide's offense in his first and only season in Tuscaloosa. The transfer from Georgia Tech leveraged his opportunity to play for the powerhouse program and boost his chances of going early in the Draft.
That investment is soon to pay off. Gibbs is projected to land somewhere in the first two rounds. That's all any running back can ask for, and if the Bengals were to take him, they'd likely need to use the 28th overall pick. Trading back a handful of spots might also get the job done.
The Draft is still weeks away, and there's much we don't know yet about what the Bengals' board looks like, but taking a running back in the first round can likely be crossed off as a possibility. That hasn't happened for the franchise since 2004 when Chris Perry became a Bengal, a pick that unfortunately never worked out.
If Gibbs were to fall all the way to pick No. 60, the Bengals may call his line instantly and make the pick. Cincinnati met with him at the NFL Scouting Combine, so interest is already apparent. The second round is also where their last three feature backs, Giovani Bernard, Jeremy Hill, and Joe Mixon, were taken. Gibbs would fit the lineage quite well.
One thing's for certain, Pratt is definitely on board.
