WKRC's Chelsea Sick reports that Hamilton County officials have officially allocated $39 million towards renovations for Paycor Stadium, the home venue for the Bengals since 2000.
The stadium's lease is set to expire in 2026, and this agreement comes right before renegotiations were set to begin.
"It's the taxpayers' asset. The team plays there. We all want it to be in good shape, so we should all participate in fixing it and making sure it's up to speed." – Commission VP Denise Driehaus
The Bengals have been relying on taxpayer support for the vast majority of improvements to the stadium in its history. That said, $32 million has been invested by the franchise itself over the past 18 months, a signal that the county can trust them to pull their own weight. Upgrades have included stadium signage, concessions stands, and obviously the indoor practice facility.
Work will begin on the stadium starting this offseason, and more upgrades are sure to be implemented over the coming years. It's all part of the county and team working together to keep the Bengals in Cincinnati.
