Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt hasn't played since Week 11, and after being placed on the Reserve/Injured list on Monday, he can't play until Week 17 at the earliest.

Fortunately, head coach Zac Taylor believes he'll get his No. 1 corner back at that time.

"Very hopeful," Taylor said of Taylor-Britt returning for the end of the regular season. "There was conversation of how it would play out over the next four weeks and ultimately thought it was the best thing to make sure it fully heals, and he's not rushed back from it. But it's always impossible to predict, obviously when it's that kind of timeframe, but [we're] optimistic that we'll have a chance to get it him back for the regular season."

NFL rules require players to sit out a minimum four weeks after being placed on I.R., and teams can only activate a limited number of players from the list during the season. The Bengals will be eligible to get Taylor-Britt back in time for the final two weeks of the regular season if he's ready to play.

Based on Taylor's answer, it seems Taylor-Britt will be good to go in four weeks' time.

Taylor-Britt, who was already dealing with a quad injury, suffered an ankle injury during last Thursday's practice. He missed practice for the remainder of the week and was subsequently placed on I.R.

The new injury was enough to keep Taylor-Britt out for the next few weeks, but if Taylor is optimistic of his eventual return, there must be hope his recovery will be relatively quick. That's terrific news for the second-year player not only returning as fast as possible, but playing at his normal level right when he gets back. He has a team-high four interceptions this season.

Week 17 will feature the Bengals going back to Arrowhead Stadium for the third consecutive season to face the Kansas City Chiefs. It's the first game Taylor-Britt can return for, and Cincinnati will very much need him to slow down Patrick Mahomes.

Until then, Taylor-Britt will continue working his way back to the field.
