Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor brought winning NFL football back to the city he's coached in for the past four years, and he brought an amazing new tradition with him

After the past five postseason victories the Bengals have had since January of 2022, Taylor and various players of his have gone into local bars in and around Cincinnati to deliver game balls to the establishments and interact with fans. It's been a wonderfully welcomed new custom, but it's not been a perfect operation according to Taylor.

In an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Taylor explained that when calling bars following road playoff wins, he's had some of them hang up on him due to how late in the night the team made it back to the city.

"The real challenge is after away games when we get back at midnight," Taylor said. "Calling the bars to see if they're gonna be open, while also not trying to give away what we're doing because I'd like it to be a surprise and you walk in and nobody knows where you're coming.

"I've been hung up on many times trying to call a bar to make sure they stay open and they keep hanging up on me at midnight. So there's been a couple of missed opportunities by a couple places here in town."

Whoops!

Calling a bar late on a weekend that's packed with cheerful fans is indeed a tall task, but when it's one of the most famous people in town looking to celebrate in your establishment, that's a big-time whiff.

Notable bars such as Mount Lookout Tavern, Rhinehaus, Oak Tavern, and the Blind Pig have all welcomed Taylor and his players to deliver game balls and speeches in front of packed crowds. Hopefully this message will encourage all bars in the area to answer the phone following more Bengals playoff wins in the future.
