The jersey numbers for all six Cincinnati Bengals free agent signings have been announced by the team.

Here are the numbers for all six players:

  • 22 S Geno Stone
  • 24 S Vonn Bell
  • 31 RB Zack Moss
  • 77 OT Trent Brown
  • 88 TE Mike Gesicki
  • 98 DT Sheldon Rankins

Four of the six will get to continue wearing their usual number. Bell is the obvious example as he was #24 for Cincinnati from 2020-22. He's worn that number since 2018 when he was with the New Orleans Saints.

Trent Brown and Mike Gesicki, two former New England Patriots, will also continue wearing their same number. The #77 jersey has significance for Cincinnati as it was Andrew Whitworth's number for 11 years. Brown should be the best player to wear it for the Bengals since Whitworth.

Hayden Hurst wore the #88 back in 2022, so the Bengals also have some familiarity with a starting tight end rocking that jersey. Gesicki has been #88 for every year of his career outside of his rookie season.

Rankins taking #98 is entirely too fitting. It's not just the number he's worn since being drafted back in 2016, it's the same number DJ Reader wore with the Houston Texans and then Bengals. The coincidence of the Bengals signing another former Texans defensive tackle of the same number is not lost on this writer.

Stone and Moss are the lone two who will switch off their previous numbers. Stone was #26 for the Baltimore Ravens, but that number belongs to fellow safety Jordan Battle. Moss was #21 for the Indianapolis Colts, and Mike Hilton has had that number since joining the Bengals in 2021.
