The season-ending injury that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow suffered in Week 11 of the 2023 NFL season didn't just break hearts all over Ohio, it shattered the hopes thousands of fantasy football owners — including an Academy Award winning actress.

The Atlantic recently did a profile of actress Jodie Foster, who currently stars in season four of True Detective, and the two-time Academy Award winner revealed that she's an avid fantasy football player. And she was "devoted" to Burrow in 2023 — though Burrow's injury-plagued season held her team back.

From The Atlantic: Between takes on True Detective, Foster wouldn't go back to her trailer, opting instead to pop over to a couch on set and check in on her fantasy-football team. This is a passion for her; she spent several minutes enthusiastically explaining her draft picks to me. (Her team had been held back by persistent injuries to the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, to whom Foster remained devoted.)

Plenty of fantasy football owners felt her pain last season, including yours truly (Burrow is the quarterback on my one and only fantasy a team — a dynasty league that's entering its 19th season this fall….my championship hopes went down the drain when Burrow suffered his wrist injury against the Baltimore Ravens).

Foster's devotion, however, could be rewarded in 2024. Burrow is going to be as motivated as ever to have a big season — especially after signing a lucrative extension last offseason. The former LSU standout is determined to bring a Super Bowl to Cincinnati, which could lead to some mega-fantasy performances next season.
