The Cincinnati Bengals picked up their fourth win in their last five games on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. They did so because of the excellent play of quarterback Joe Burrow, whose performance put his name in a category all by himself.
Burrow finished with 481 yards passing and three touchdown passes and added another 20 yards on the ground and a rushing score as well. Burrow now has multiple games with 500 total yards and four total touchdowns, making him the only player in NFL history to do so.
The stats were amazing enough but it was how efficient Burrow was in doing so. He completed nearly 81% of his passes (34 for 42) and didn't throw an interception. Also, he spread the ball around to his pass catchers nicely as four of them snagged at least five receptions, with Ja'Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd each going over 100 yards.
Since throwing four interceptions in the Bengals' season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Burrow has been lights out. He's thrown 13 touchdowns with just one interception and the Bengals have won four of their six games over that span.
Going back to the 2021 season, Burrow has shown several times that he's capable of putting up insanely gaudy numbers through the air. He has three of the top four passing yardage games during that time, further cementing why he was the no. 1 overall pick in 2020.
Burrow is hitting his stride at the right time and the Bengals are getting back to their winning ways as a result.
