Another Cincinnati Bengals franchise legend is on the precipice of being eternalized in football history.

Former Bengals quarterback and NFL MVP Ken Anderson was named one of 12 Senior Semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024, as announced Thursday afternoon.

This is the second year in a row Anderson has been named a semifinalist as a senior candidate. He's one of the only five to make the cut in back-to-back years. His former teammate, the late great Ken Riley, was posthumously named a semifinalist in 2022 and went on to make the cut for this year's class.

Anderson is one of the greatest quarterbacks of the 20th century, certainly one of the very best to never win a Super Bowl. Along with his 1981 MVP trophy, he has four Pro Bowl honors and four NFL passing titles to his name. For reference, Tom Brady also has four passing titles despite logging eight more seasons as a starter.

Anderson and the 11 other semifinalists, including Green Bay Packers great Sterling Sharpe, will find out on August 22nd if they are among the three finalists with a virtual guaranteed chance at making the 2024 class.

Should he make it through next month, Anderson would become the third-ever Bengals player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame next year.
