Cincinnati Bengals legend Chad Johnson made a bold, slightly NSFW, prediction this week for his former team in 2022.

Johnson is excited about the future of the Bengals. He thinks Cincinnati is going to run it back in the AFC North in 2022 AND make another run at the Super Bowl.

It's hard to disagree with Johnson. The Bengals shouldn't have been in the Super Bowl in 2021 — they arrived a year or two early.

In theory, a Bengals team with a better roster in 2022 should be a lock to at least reach the AFC Championship game again. And they should be one of the favorites to reach the Super Bowl.

But we've seen how hard it is to get to a Super Bowl. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn't been back to a Super Bowl since winning it in early 2011.

Dan Marino, one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the NFL, reached a Super Bowl in his second season. And he never returned.

So while I think Johnson is right that Joe Burrow and Cincinnati will make another run in 2022, it's far from a sure thing. A lot of things have to go right — specifically, players need to stay healthy.

Still, it has to be fun for Bengals fans to be viewed as one of the hottest Super Bowl picks in the NFL instead of a team that simply hopes to make the playoffs.
