Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green has officially retired as a member of the franchise.
Green, who's in Cincinnati this weekend to be the Ruler of the Jungle, signed a one-day contract in Paycor Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Green, the fourth-overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, spent the first 10 years of his 12-year career with the Bengals and made seven Pro Bowls in stripes. He played 127 games for Cincinnati, recording 649 receptions, 9,430 receiving yards, and 65 touchdowns. He holds second place in Bengals history in all three categories behind Chad Johnson.
Green officially retired on February 6 of this year after finishing up his second season with the Arizona Cardinals, but he will always be remembered for his decade in Cincinnati. He was arguably the most important factor in the team's five-straight playoff appearances from 2011-2015.
Having Green retire as a Bengal is an obvious good decision for Mike Brown and the front office. His weekend in Cincinnati will conclude Sunday afternoon when he kickstarts the team's Week 2 matchup vs. the Baltimore Ravens as the Ruler of the Jungle.
