When the Cincinnati Bengals knew the game was lost last Sunday, they kept their $300+ million quarterback Joe Burrow on the sideline for the final two drives of the game with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

This has led to some claiming the Bengals benched Burrow, a day after signing his mega-extension nonetheless. Two-time All-Pro Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys wasn't having any of that.

"When the Bengals pulled Joe Burrow in the fourth quarter, is that benching? No, it is not benching," Parsons said on his show The Edge with Micah Parsons. "You got your franchise quarterback who just got paid, who came off a calf injury in camp, so barely really got to work with his guys. The chemistry and timing could be off so guys be realistic. Is Joe Burrow bad? No. And he just had a bad day."

When you're right, you're right.

If the Bengals wanted to bench Burrow, they would've done so much earlier in the game before going down three touchdowns late in the fourth quarter. Their decision to put in backup Jake Browning was a move to keep Burrow safe more than anything else.

Burrow notably had the worst game of his career Sunday, and it's clear he's also still coming back from the calf strain he suffered back in late July. Keeping Burrow in the game at that point would've led to nothing good.

Parsons and the rest of the NFL have seen too much about Burrow to make swift judgement on one bad week. Good on him for using his platform to speak truths.
