Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow now has a set date for surgery on his right wrist. The investigation into the Bengals and Burrow's injury, however, has not yet concluded.
The NFL continues to look into whether or not the Bengals neglected to include Burrow on Week 11 injury report leading up to his season-ending injury.
Based on what the league has reportedly seen, it appears the Bengals had nothing to hide.
Per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the footage and evidence seen by the NFL over the course of the past week shows Burrow practicing normally without wearing a brace, and documentation that Burrow's injury didn't happen over time. Zac Taylor stated as much following the Bengals' loss to the Baltimore Ravens last week.
"Sources familiar with the organization say the Bengals have turned in hours of footage to the NFL showing that Burrow was healthy prior to the game. According to those who have seen the footage, Burrow threw the ball normally during practice, without a brace and took all of his normal reps. It also includes documentation from medical personnel stating Burrow's injury was 'acute,' as Taylor has explained. It was not, the doctors say, an injury that happened over time, sources say." – NFL Media's Ian Rapoport
Had Burrow been given any official treatment during the week of practice, or missed any practice time, the Bengals would've been obligated by league rules to include him on the injury report. This report indicates Burrow had a regular week of practice, requiring no action from the Bengals leading up to the game.
Burrow and the team have also said that the sleeve he was seen wearing upon arriving in Baltimore had nothing to do with the wrist injury he later suffered.
Rapoport also reports that Burrow's surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. His recovery for the 2024 offseason is the biggest and most concern for the team once the investigation concludes and the matter is resolved.
