While Joe Burrow's strained calf heals over the next few weeks, the Cincinnati Bengals need to get through training camp and the preseason properly. That entails having enough quarterbacks able to practice.

Cincinnati took care of that conundrum Sunday by adding a third quarterback to the mix. The Bengals announced they signed free agent Reid Sinnett, and placed OT Devin Cochran on Injured Reserve to clear a spot on the active roster.

Sinnett, a second-year player out of the University of San Diego, got his first NFL gig with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 2020 NFL Draft. He later joined the Miami Dolphins that year and stuck around in South Beach for over a year.

The Bengals are very familiar with Sinnett's days in Miami. To close out the 2021 preseason, Sinnett's Dolphins beat the Bengals thanks to an outstanding performance by the young quarterback. He even threw the game-winning touchdown on a miraculous fourth-and-15 Hail Mary play.

Sinnett has since bounced around from the Philadelphia Eagles, back to the Dolphins, and most recently the XFL's San Antonio Brahmas, but it's entirely plausible that one game two Augusts ago is what has Sinnett now in Cincinnati. He'll be playing behind the tandem of Jake Browning and Trevor Siemian, who will split reps with the 1s until Burrow returns as they battle for QB2 duties for the regular season.

Cochran, a first-year player, was an undrafted free agent signing of the Bengals following the 2022 NFL Draft. He spent the 2022 season on the practice squad and signed a futures deal this year to stick around for another offseason. He'll now spent the year on I.R.
