Bengals receive news they were hoping to avoid with kickoff against Steelers right around the corner
Cincinnati will be without one of its best players against Pittsburgh.
The Cincinnati Bengals are not expecting to have Trey Hendrickson available tonight against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports while Hendrickson is not expected to play, there’s hope for him to suit up in Week 8 against the New York Jets.
Hendrickson, who has a team-high four sacks in six games this season, was questionable this week with a hip injury he suffered last Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. He did not practice at all during the week.
Myles Murphy and Shemar Stewart are expected to see plenty of action with Hendrickson sidelined. Stewart missed the last four games with an ankle injury but has practiced for the last week and is ready to return. Joseph Ossai will start like he usually does, and Cam Sample rounds out the depth at the position.
Bengals inactives vs. Steelers includes Trey Hendrickson
- WR Jermaine Burton
- DE Trey Hendrickson
- TE Tanner Hudson
- DT McKinnley Jackson
- C Matt Lee
- CB Cam Taylor-Britt
The unexpected inactive here is Taylor-Britt. He’s a healthy scratch. Josh Newton and D.J. Ivey will get more chances to play along with starters DJ Turner II and Dax Hill
Hudson had already been declared out for Thursday’s game with a concussion. Hudson and Hendrickson are be the only inactive players who are injured this week.
Hendrickson being out does clear the way for defensive tackle Jordan Jefferson to play. Jackson has been a healthy scratch for the first few weeks of the year before Jefferson was claimed off waivers and has been inactive for the past two weeks. Jefferson now gets his debut opportunity.
Wide receiver Charlie Jones was questionable with a rib injury. With him active, Burton will be inactive. Burton has yet to dress this season. Wilson has also been a healthy scratch for most of the season.
The Bengals will kickoff against Pittsburgh at 8:15 p.m. ET and can be watched on Amazon Prime Video and on WCPO (ABC) in Cincinnati.
