Observations
- Chase Brown (illness), who’s 53 yards shy of 1,000 on the ground this season, was out Wednesday. It’s better to pop up earlier in the week rather than later with an illness, but it’s still something to monitor as the week goes on. DJ Turner II tried playing through the flu in Week 16 and only made it halfway until he had to be sidelined.
- Josh Newton (hamstring) showed up late last week on the injury report and missed Wednesday’s practice entirely. Newton is typically the first cornerback off the bench, so DJ Ivey would fill that roll should Newton miss this week.
- Joseph Ossai (ankle) remains out with his ankle injury he suffered back in Week 15. Ossai did do some work on the side during Wednesday’s practice, but he’s not off to a great start if he wants to play in the season finale. Ossai has logged 616 snaps for Cincinnati this season, and Sunday could be his last game as a Bengal.
- Charlie Jones (ankle) and Cam Grandy (chest) remain unlikely to play like they have been for the past couple weeks. Jones suffered his injury in Week 15, and Grandy went down in Week 16. been considered week-to-week and it would be unlikely for either player to practice at some point this week and suit up Sunday.
- B.J. Hill (ankle) is still being managed with his ankle injury. He’s hardly practiced in recent weeks but has played nonetheless.
