The Cincinnati Bengals are in desperate need of a win after dropping two games in a row, and practice has begun for Week 5’s matchup against the visiting Detroit Lions.

Let’s take a look at where things stand on the latest injury report, which is just an estimation today since the team is going through a walkthrough after playing on Monday night:

Observations

  • Tight end Noah Fant, who suffered a concussion during Week 3’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings, remains in the concussion protocol after missing all three practices last week. That he would’ve been limited Wednesday is a good sign toward him returning this week, but he still needs to clear the protocol before Sunday.
  • Defensive end Shemar Stewart (ankle) has yet to practice since suffering his injury during Week 2’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Starting the week as a DNP is not the best sign, but it’s not out of the question for him to play Sunday.
  • Wide receiver Charlie Jones (Achilles) suffered his injury on Monday night. The team originally listed it as an ankle injury during the game. He played zero snaps on offense but returned two kickoffs for 48 yards and his lone punt return went for 16 yards.

Observations

  • Cornerback D.J. Reed (hamstring) is also listed on the official injury report, but Detroit has already placed him on the Reserve/Injured list so he’s out for this game and the next three for the Lions. He suffered his injury last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
  • Cornerback Terrion Arnold (shoulder) also got hurt against the Browns, but him going limited Wednesday was a good sign.
  • Of the five DNPs listed above, two of them are starters. Decker (shoulder) is the starting left tackle, and Joseph (knee) is the starting free safety.
