While Joe Burrow recovers from a calf strain that will sideline him for "several weeks" according to head coach Zac Taylor, the Cincinnati Bengals need more arms in the bullpen to get to the regular season.

Per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Bengals are set to workout two quarterbacks, Drew Plitt and Reid Sinnett, in the hopes of signing one to backup the tandem of Jake Browning and Trevor Siemian.

Neither of these quarterbacks are new to the Bengals. Plitt came in last season as a tryout player after going undrafted and ended up making the offseason roster. He played in two preseason games and conducted a final drive touchdown in his debut performance. He completed six of seven passes, including a 25-yard touchdown in the team's first preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Bengals waived Plitt after the 2022 preseason concluded, and he later joined the XFL's Arlington Renegades and eventually started three games for them.

Plitt initially got a tryout for the Bengals as a local player. He played at Loveland High School before throwing the third-most touchdown passes in Ball State history during his collegiate days. Now, he'll get another shot to join the preseason squad, but he'll have to compete with Sinnett.

Another undrafted free agent, Sinnett got his first NFL gig with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 2020 NFL Draft. He later join the Miami Dolphins that year and stuck around in South Beach for over a year.

To close out the 2021 preseason, Sinnett and the Dolphins beat the Bengals in Cincinnati thanks to an outstanding performance by the young quarterback. He even threw the game-winning touchdown on a miraculous fourth-and-15 Hail Mary play.

Sinnett has since bounced around from the Philadelphia Eagles, back to the Dolphins, and most recently the XFL's San Antonio Brahmas.

Either Plitt or Sinnett would come in as Cincinnati's third quarterback until Burrow is fully healthy again, and will see preseason action behind Browning and Siemian. The Bengals will just have to decide between the one who performed heroics for them, or  the one who performed heroics against them.
