Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase told reporters on Wednesday that one thing about this season so far is frustrating him.
But don't worry — it's nothing to do with the Bengals' locker room or the coaching staff.
Chase is growing frustrated with the double teams he's seeing from opposing defenses.
Chase has 25 receptions for 293 yards and two touchdowns through four games this season.
That means he's on pace for 1,245 yards. That would still be a great season, but it would be a step back from Chase's rookie season (statistically, at least).
It's easy to understand why teams are doubling Chase — he's one of the best players in the league. And the strategy to double him has clearly paid off — the Bengals' offense hasn't been quite as effective so far this season because of the different approaches from defenses.
Ultimately, Chase is right to be frustrated. He wants to be out there making plays — even though the attention he's getting is opening things up a bit more for his teammates like Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd.
I'm sure the Bengals will continue to scheme up ways to get Chase open. But until then, he's just going to have to accept that he's helping the team even though he isn't catching as many passes as last season.
