Adam 'Pacman' Jones = NFL insider?

Who knows? But what we do know is this: The 12-year NFL veteran, who cohosts the BLEAV In Bengals podcast, recently informed fellow cohost Solomon Wilcots that a "little birdie" told him the Bengals are going to sign free agent center Ryan Jensen.

Jensen, who played for the Buccaneers over the last four seasons, is considered to be one of the top free agent offensive lineman on the market.

“I got some great news for you," Pacman told Wilcots. "A little birdie said that we [Bengals] gonna sign Ryan Jensen to a three-year deal for $39 million, which would be a starting center. He played with Baltimore and just left from [Tampa]. I hope it goes through. It sound like the little birdie is saying it’s almost a done deal.”

"Hey, Ryan Jensen's a bad dude," replied Solomon. "He is what we need. See, we don't just need offensive linemen. We need some mean dudes. We need mean, nasty, physical dudes. Ryan Jensen is that dude.

"I like Trey Hopkins at the center position, but hey, we're getting ready to transform an offensive line into a mean machine that can protect Joe Burrow."

It's completely possible that Pacman developed inside sources during his time in the NFL. He called Cincinnati home from 2010-2017, so it's entirely plausible he's in contact with someone within the organization and they're feeding him details.

However, it's even more plausible that Jones is simply making this up and the contract numbers are derived from a recent Pro Football Focus column that predicted where this year's crop of free agents will end up. It would be a major mistake for his "source" to reveal this information at this time, due to the fact the legal tampering period doesn't begin until March 14. Releasing this information -to Pacman, of all people- would not only be dumb, but potentially detrimental to the franchise.

PFF wrote the following about Jensen's potential landing spot:

Prediction: Cincinnati Bengals – Three years, $39 million ($24.5 million guaranteed)

Jensen will be the most sought-after center on the market this free agency period. He has experience playing in multiple schemes (Ravens, Bucs) and has been durable, playing over 1,000 snaps in each of the last five seasons. He’s always graded out better as a run-blocker than a pass-blocker in his career, posting three straight campaigns with a 73.0-plus run-blocking grade.

The Bengals need to allocate cap space to the offensive line, and Jensen would be a great start. He’d be an upgrade over Trey Hopkins (51.4 PFF grade in 2021) and would give Joe Burrow a trusted veteran to take snaps from. We’ve seen this type of move have a positive impact on Justin Herbert (with Corey Linsley) and Kyler Murray (with Rodney Hudson).

The Bengals are also going to have to fight off the Buccaneers, who recently hinted at re-signing Jensen and guard Alex Cappa in order to help keep continuity on the offensive line. Jensen's presence on the Buccaneers' roster is even more paramount due to Ali Marpet's recent retirement.

Who knows? Maybe we will enter a world where Pacman is a legitimate NFL insider, but until then, forgive me if I have my doubts.
