CINCINNATI – It's one thing for NFL players to compliment each other, but the act goes to a whole other level when a Hall of Fame player is involved.
Bengals legend and Hall-of-Famer Anthony Muñoz appeared on NFL Network's Good Morning Football and gave his thoughts on a variety of topics, but the one that stood out most was his response to analyst Jane Slater's inquiry centered on his impressions of very-soon-to-be Bengals legend Joe Burrow.
"Let's put it this way, in my 13 years I played for two amazing quarterbacks… I would love to be playing for Joe Burrow," Muñoz said on GMFB. "I'd love to line up in the huddle, get the play from Joe Burrow and get it out there and compete with him.
"I don't know him real well. But I watch, and I listen, I read, and the guy is the real deal…. I'm excited about seeing him in a Bengals uniform and in Bengals stripes for a lot of years. And I'm very confident in not only his physical ability, but his leadership characteristics and his mental ability. I tell ya what, they got the guy for years and years if they keep him healthy and he stays here [Cincinnati]."
Sorry, but I have to go for the low-hanging fruit, here: It's too bad Muñoz wasn't around in 2021. I'm sure Burrow and the rest of the Bengals offense would've loved to have him.
But, it's safe to say they shouldn't need Muñoz in 2022.
In all seriousness, it's always a major compliment to hear a player like Muñoz compliment current players in the NFL. It's only a matter of time before every HOFer is speaking like this about Burrow.
If they aren't already.
