The Cincinnati Bengals need to beat the Denver Broncos to stay alive in the AFC playoff race, and the end result will impact more than just them.
A win for the Bengals also gives the Miami Dolphins a better chance at sneaking into the playoffs, which is exactly why Dolphins All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill announced his rooting interest for Cincinnati Saturday morning over X/Twitter.
Should the Bengals come out on top later this afternoon, the Broncos' record would fall to 9-7. The Dolphins will need to beat the Cleveland Browns on Sunday to get to 8-8. If the Dolphins and Broncos each finish at 9-8, the Dolphins would get the final playoff spot if the Indianapolis Colts lose one of their last two games.
Hill's support for Cincy this week is as logical as it is ironic. The Dolphins and Bengals cannot both make the postseason, and the Dolphins would have a tiebreaker if both teams finish 9-8. The Dolphins need the Bengals to win today, but the Bengals need the Dolphins to lose one of their last two games. Miami faces the Browns tomorrow and close out the season against the New York Jets next week.
The Dolphins have a good chance of finishing above .500 and securing the #7 seed in the AFC if the Bengals win as home favorites today. The Bengals can only make it by beating the Broncos, the Kansas City Chiefs beating Broncos next week, and at least one more loss from the Dolphins and Colts.
It all starts in Paycor Stadium, and the home team will have some support all the way from South Beach.
