The final weekend of preseason football has arrived, and the Cincinnati Bengals are one step closer to starting their quest of a third-straight AFC North championship title.

Bengals players on the roster bubble

The only position group on offense or defense that doesn't have an obvious roster battle going on is at linebacker. Every other position will have to land on a number of players to keep, and choosing one or two players over the rest. Trevor Siemian, Hakeem Adeniji, and Michael Thomas are just a few that are treading water entering the last preseason game.

3 Bengals players to watch

  • QB Jake Browning: The battle for QB2 is about to wrap up, and Browning should have a slight lead over Siemian. In order to prevent the Bengals from looking externally for the answer behind Joe Burrow, Browning can just end the preseason on a long-awaited high note. His time in Cincinnati may depend on it.
  • OT Jackson Carman: It's clear as day Carman's best position going forward is at left tackle. That said, there are two, maybe three others who are ahead of him at that spot. It doesn't seem like he's on the verge of getting cut just yet, but he needs to avoid a disastrous outing to erase all doubt.
  • ED Raymond Johnson III: He's had at least two pressures and a sack in each preseason game thus far. Another performance like that might just force the team to keep Johnson on the 53-man roster. Johnson will be playing for more than just a spot on the Bengals' roster or practice squad. His impressive preseason has surely garnered the attention of other pass rush-needy teams around the league. Tonight represents an important audition for the third-year player.
