Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow may have inadvertently started some drama with a former LSU teammate earlier this month.
Burrow appeared on the Full Send Podcast last week and he threw some shade at the Baltimore Ravens.
“I love playing the Ravens because they talk,” said Burrow. “They talk. I love that…[The score] was a lot to a little. I threw for 520-something in the second one and I threw for 400-something in the first one. Ja’Marr (Chase) had like 260-something yards the first game. Yeah, I love playing the Ravens. They like to talk. I don’t start the talking, but I usually, if somebody pokes me, I can talk a little bit.”
Burrow's former LSU teammate, Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen, took notice of the comments from Burrow and posted a "subtweet" that was directed toward the former Heisman Trophy winner.
Queen sent that tweet the same afternoon that Burrow's podcast appearance premiered on YouTube.
The former LSU linebacker "liked" a response to his tweet that seemingly confirmed that it was directed at Burrow's comments.
Queen also liked a tweet that threw shade at Burrow.
Burrow is 2-1 in his career as a starter against the Ravens. He lost to Baltimore 27-3 in week five of the 2020 season. Burrow missed the second matchup against the Ravens in 2020 due to his torn ACL. Cincinnati swept the season series against the Ravens in 2021.
It's clear that Queen wasn't a big fan of Burrow's comments. But I don't think this is something that will damage the relationship between the two former LSU teammates — it's just business.
The rivalry between the Ravens and the Bengals was already one of the most intense in the NFL. This will just serve to intensify things a bit when the two teams square off in 2022.
Cincinnati will travel to Baltimore in week five for a Sunday night matchup, before hosting the Ravens in the regular-season finale in week 18.
