Latest NFL trade means Chase Brown’s next chance at unique opportunity is arriving sooner than expected
Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown will now face his twin brother in 2026 after the Philadelphia Eagles traded Sydney Brown to the Atlanta Falcons.
Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown was not the first member of his family drafted to the NFL, and he’s now also not going to be the first to switch teams.
Brown’s twin brother, Sydney Brown, was traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Atlanta Falcons Friday, a day before they each turned 26 years old. Atlanta swapped its fourth- and sixth-round picks with Philadelphia for Brown.
Brown was entering a contract year like his brother on the Bengals, and is now scheduled to play at least one season with the Falcons. Where he ends up following this year is a mystery for now, but the trade does confirm a family meeting on the field in the coming months.
Chase Brown will now play against his twin brother again sooner than expected
Cincinnati’s 2026 schedule hasn’t been announced yet, but Atlanta will be one of its road opponents during the season. This means a matchup between Chase and Sydney Brown is now on the docket thanks to Philly’s trade.
The Bengals aren’t guaranteed to face the Eagles until 2028. There’s a chance both teams could play against each other in 2027, but both Browns could be on different teams by then. They were both drafted in 2023 and signed four-year rookie contracts. Sydney was drafted in the third round that year, and Chase was drafted in the fifth round.
The Brown twins have played each other once in an NFL game before when the Bengals hosted Philadelphia during the 2024 season. The Eagles handed Cincy a 20-point loss as Chase Brown was limited to 32 rushing yards on 12 carries. Sydney Brown only played three snaps on defense that day as he was recently coming back from an injury.
Bengals may be facing Falcons in Madrid, Spain
Chase and Sydney were each born in Ontario, Canada, and each represent the United States’ northern neighbor proudly in the NFL. As it happens, they may be facing off on international soil this year.
The NFL recently announced Atlanta will be hosting the league’s second-ever regular season game in Spain this coming season, one of nine international contests on the 2026 schedule. Cincinnati is one of several possible opponents as a club overdue to play overseas, and has two NFC opponents already slated to host a game in Europe. The Washington Commanders will have a home game in London, UK, and the Bengals are one of their home opponents as well.
We’ll find out for sure where Brown and the Bengals will be traveling for those contests when the schedule drops in May. Wherever Cincinnati faces the Falcons, the fourth-year RB will be expecting to see his brother on the other side of the field.
