Every wrestling match needs a heel, and Ohio native Logan Paul became that during "Monday Night Raw," which stopped in Cincinnati Monday evening.
Paul began the night directing a diss at the Cincinnati Bengals fans in the crowd, and he used the most triggering lane possible.
"You guys waste talent," Paul said. "Just look at what you did to Joe Burrow."
Paul got what he wanted, which was a storm of boos and jeers. Nothing else could've resulted in a more hostile reaction.
Bengals fans will defend their team with fury, but they'll defend Burrow's name above everything else. Burrow, the 2024 Comeback Player of the Year, is the biggest reason why fans have hope of the franchise winning a Super Bowl title why he's still playing for the team.
The longer that doesn't happen, the more Paul's words have weight to them.
2024 was the first time Burrow played a full season and Cincinnati missed the playoffs entirely. The 28-year old QB would've had a legitimate shot at winning his first MVP trophy had the team made the postseason. His season was ultimately wasted despite his work to come back from a season-ending wrist injury.
This wasn't the first time this month a shot was thrown at the Bengals at Burrow's expense. The team was also roasted during Snoop Dogg's opening monologue at NFL Honors after the acclaimed rapper mentioned his Batmobile purchase.
"I guess he wanted one thing in life: to have a good defense."
Paul is from Westlake, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. His brother, Jake Paul, hung out with Burrow during Michael Rubin's White Party last year.
Paul may not have any love for Cincinnati or vice versa, but there's nothing abnormal about one Ohio kid supporting another. It's the Bengals' goal to make sure Paul and other celebrities can't use this ammo against them again.
