Pro Football Network recently name the biggest remaining need for each AFC team and how that need should be addressed.

For the Cincinnati Bengals, PFN named pass-rushing depth as the biggest need that needs to be filled before the start of the 2022 season.

And to fill that need, PFN suggested that Cincinnati should sign free agent pass rusher Trey Flowers.

They also pointed out Ryan Kerrigan as a potential free-agent option for the Bengals.

From PFN:

After refurbishing their offensive line in free agency and sprucing up their defense in the draft, the Bengals’ biggest need is on the defensive line. They’ve been searching for a third edge rusher to play behind Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard. 2021 third-rounder Joseph Ossai is penciled into that role, but he has no NFL experience after tearing his meniscus in last year’s preseason.

Cincinnati could also use help at defensive tackle, where they re-signed B.J. Hill but lost Larry Ogunjobi. If the Bengals sign Flowers, he’d spent most of his time as a rotational edge defender, but he could also slide inside on obvious passing downs. Ryan Kerrigan, who met with Cincinnati in March 2021 before signing with the Eagles, is another free agent option who could be the Bengals’ EDGE3.

Flowers is a former Arkansas standout who spent the first four years of his career with the New England Patriots (where he won two Super Bowls) before signing a five-year deal with the Detroit Lions.

The former fourth-round draft pick was released by the Lions in March.

Flowers has battled injuries the past two years, playing in only 14 games since the end of the 2019 season. But when he's on the field, he's a problem for opposing offensive lines.

Before the 2020 season, Flowers was consistently totaling around six or seven sacks each season. If healthy, that's the type of production the Bengals could expect from the Alabama native.

The Bengals just need some pass-rushing depth, which makes Flowers a great option. He wouldn't be a player that Cincinnati would be counting on to play every snap every week.
