There isn't a better rivalry in the NFL right now than the one between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals.
For over a decade, the rivalry between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts — specifically between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning — was the biggest storyline in the league (on a regular basis at least).
Now for the next decade plus, it looks like Patrick Mahomes vs Joe Burrow will be the biggest storyline.
Burrow is 3-1 against Mahomes and the Chiefs. Kansas City, however, won the last game in this rivalry (last year's AFC Championship game), so for now they have the bragging rights.
On Thursday night, TNT televised the latest edition of "The Match", a celebrity golf series that has aired off and on over the last five years,
Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce took on Golden State Warriors guards Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry.
Draymond Green, who recently declined his player option with the Warriors, joined the foursome as they made their way around the golf course.
At one point, Green heard Mahomes and Kelce chirping (presumably about the Warriors blowing a 3-1 series lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017). The former NBA defensive player of the year was quick to remind the duo that Cincinnati sent Kansas City home in the 2021 playoffs.
"Y'all over here talking about 3-1, like Joey Burrow ain't send your a– home a year ago," said Green.
It sounds like Green might be team Burrow in the great Burrow vs Mahomes debate.
And by the way, folks have universally accepted that Mahomes is the better quarterback than Burrow — even Joey B said it earlier this offseason. But it seems like everyone is glossing over the fact that Burrow is 3-1 against Mahomes. That's not say that Burrow should be placed above Mahomes on any "best QB in the league" lists, but the gap isn't as wide as some folks would leave you to believe.
