Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett is trying to channel his inner-Joe Burrow, but it's not very convincing.

The Steelers are set to take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Buffalo, unsurprisingly, is a big favorite in the game (most sportsbooks have the Steelers at +14).

Pickett told reporters this week that he doesn't view Pittsburgh as an underdog in this game, which is a wild statement to make.

"You guys, everyone else thinks we're underdogs," said Pickett. "We don't, so we're gonna go in there with some confidence. We know how great we can be when we're detailed and we execute at a high level. That's something that we need to take care of during the week or we won't have a shot."

I suppose that's the right mindset to have, but it just isn't that convincing coming from Pickett. Not like it was when Burrow offered a similar sentiment about the Cincinnati Bengals last year.

“I’m tired of the underdog narrative,” said Burrow during the playoffs last year. “We’re a really really good team. We’re here to make noise. Teams are gonna have to pay attention to us. Like I said, we’re a really good team with really good players and coaches and we’re coming for it all.”

That statement is a little more powerful coming from Burrow after a road playoff win against the Tennessee Titans.

They say imitation is the best form of flattery. But there's nothing quite like an original. And Pickett, despite his best efforts, isn't in the same zip code as Burrow. That's why Pickett saying the Steelers aren't an underdog isn't convincing at all.

I don't blame Pickett for trying to be like Burrow. But he's got a long way to go if wants to be on the same level as the Cincinnati quarterback.
