Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward, one of the best defenders in the NFL, made quite the statement about Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow this week.
Though it might not be quite what you think.
Despite the intense rivalry between the Bengals and the Steelers, Heyward spoke positively about Burrow.
Heyward had late night talk show host Seth Meyers on the "Not Just Football with Cam Heyward" podcast this week.
During the episode, Meyers, a longtime Steelers fan, admitted that he thinks Burrow is a likable guy.
"Joe is very even-keeled and a cool guy," said Heyward in response to Meyers. "He doesn't have that [Tom] Brady quality that just makes you hate him in the middle of a game".
They're both right — Burrow is almost impossible not to like. He's confident but in a genuine way. And he can be self-deprecating at times, too. I haven't really heard many opposing fan bases talking junk about Burrow.
Of course, while Heyward and likely other Steelers players don't dislike Burrow, I'm sure they badly want to beat him on the field.
After all, Burrow and the Bengals have quickly become the standard in the AFC North.
