While the Cincinnati Bengals lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, they came away with the highlight play of the game thanks to cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt's one-handed interception.
Travis Kelce had one of the best views for it on the field, and he had no choice but to give his rival some props on the latest episode of the New Heights podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce.
"I definitely haven't seen one in-game like this before in my life," Kelce said. "That's one of those when somebody like hits like a home run in baseball, or they hit one all the way to the warning track, and somebody just goes up and robs them, and then the batter then tips his cap to the guys."
It was the second time the Bengals intercepted Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the day. The first was intended for Kelce in the first quarter and was hauled in by linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither. Taylor-Britt's acrobatic one-handed pick came at the end of the third quarter, with Kelce being on the opposite side of the field.
It just gets more and more impressive upon each viewing.
"Like, dude, I'm not gonna lie, that was that s**t was sweet," Kelce said. "That's a hell of a f***ing play, man"
What makes Kelce's words all the more meaningful here is that Taylor-Britt was the source of pre-game smack talk against the Chiefs. The third-year cornerback provided bulletin board material for Chiefs rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy leading up to the game by saying his speed is his only strength.
Taylor-Britt then proceeded to have the play of his life against Worthy. Smack talk (if we're really calling it that) validated. And Kelce had no choice by to show respect after the fact.
The play was one of many examples of the Bengals' defense showing out against the Chiefs in a game they weren't expected to win. Should these teams meet again in January, Taylor-Britt may need another highlight play to achieve a different result.
