The Cleveland Browns surprised many by selecting two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The first surprise came when they chose Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel in the third round. Then, unable to pass up the value, the Browns selected Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round as well.

These moves represent two more swings at solving the quarterback position—something the team has struggled to get right despite past bold efforts. In A to Z Sports’ first 2026 mock draft, the Browns are projected to go after yet another quarterback with their first pick.

Cleveland Browns Land Clemson QB Cade Klubnik in 2026 NFL Mock Draft

In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Browns passed on taking a quarterback early, instead addressing the defensive line by selecting Michigan DT Mason Graham. However, in this 2026 mock draft, they land Clemson’s Cade Klubnik with the No. 3 overall pick.

“Clemson returns plenty of weapons around him, so he’s in great position to take another massive step forward in his development, put up some huge numbers, and possibly even push for a national championship with the Tigers. This former five-star stud looks very much on track for first-round capital (as you can see in 9 minutes of highlights on the post below), and the Browns go to the quarterback well once again here.” — Travis May, A to Z Sports

For Cleveland to target a quarterback early again in 2026, it would suggest that neither Gabriel nor Sanders is viewed as a long-term solution. Klubnik is expected to be among the top quarterbacks in the next draft cycle, coming off a 2024 season in which he threw 36 touchdown passes to just six interceptions.

By the end of the next college football season, Klubnik will have nearly three full years as Clemson’s starting quarterback. The 6-foot-2 signal-caller is definitely a name to watch for Browns fans. Notably, Cleveland will have two first-round picks in the 2026 draft, thanks to their Travis Hunter trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
