The Cleveland Browns have been on a quarterback carousel the last couple of decades, so anytime a quarterback shows potential it calls for big excitement in Northeast Ohio.

Cleveland is a 3-10 football team and there hasn’t been much to celebrate this season outside of the way that Myles Garrett, as well as the rookie class has performed. Shedeur Sanders is the latest player from Cleveland’s 2025 rookie class to step up and show some potential with 364 passing yards and four total touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans. Still, reality is that Sanders is a fifth-round quarterback and the odds aren’t in his favor to be the long-term answer for Cleveland at the position.

Browns make a big move in a recent mock draft to replace Shedeur Sanders

In the latest mock draft here at A to Z Sports, the Browns select Oregon QB Dante Moore with the No. 4 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Moore is seen as one of the top quarterbacks in the draft and he’s the second one drafted behind only Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza in this draft.  Cleveland has two first-round picks and it would take a legit showing from Sanders down the stretch of the final four games for the team to change their mind on drafting one.

The Browns gave former third-round pick Dillon Gabriel six starts this season and he cleared 200 passing yards just once during that time. Cleveland is now riding the remainder of the season with Sanders and it’s his shot to show the franchise that he deserves to be the guy next year, or should be considered for it at the very least.

The big Dante Moore question that could impact the NFL draft

Moore has one season of starting experience with Oregon this season with 12 games under his belt so far. But with him being in his third year after spending his freshman season at UCLA, many think that Moore will make the early jump simply off what he’s shown this year. Combine that with the fact that the quarterback class isn’t top-heavy and that he’s shown he’s the clear No. 2 guy at worst, and he is going to have a decision on his hands on whether or not to return to school.

So far this season, Moore has thrown for 24 touchdowns to just six interceptions to go along with 2,733 passing yards. Moore can make all of the throws on the field and may have the best pure arm talent in the entire NFL draft. If Moore declares and is there on the board when the Browns select, they’re going to have to heavily weigh taking the 6-foot-3 quarterback with franchise QB potential.
