The Cleveland Browns have had a disaster of a season so far with a 2-7 record to show at their bye week. Things have not gone to plan, they lost their starting quarterback once again, and they were sellers at the NFL trade deadline.

With a losing season comes a lot of noise and disgruntled fans. In return, that often puts pressure on the organization.

Cleveland now has to get this thing right, or jobs could potentially be on the line. If the Browns don’t win another game this season, you can bet someone’s being fired. Cleveland can win some games down the stretch and probably run it back next year with a somewhat different team if all goes right.

On Wednesday during his bye week press conference, general manager Andrew Berry pointed out what Kevin Stefanski has done as head coach, and that he thinks he is the guy for the future still.

“ I think there are 13 coaches in the history of the sport to win a Coach of the Year award multiple times, 10 of them went to a Super Bowl or an NFL Championship, six of them won one, and seven are in the Hall of Fame and he’s the second fastest to do it,” Berry said. “Kevin’s an outstanding coach and he’s absolutely part of the solution with everything.”

Stefanski has a career record of 40-39 with the Browns and he is 1-2 in the playoffs. Cleveland won a playoff game in 2020 with Kevin Stefanski at the helm in his first season. Cleveland got back to the playoffs last season for a second time but was blown out by the Houston Texans.

Both last season and 2020, Stefanski was the Coach of the Year. Those are two things he has to show that he can do the job. The success the Browns have had in Stefanski’s tenure hasn’t happened in Cleveland in decades. It doesn’t mean the Browns can settle there, but times are better than they used to be for the team outside of how this season has gone.

It is clear that Stefanski has Berry in his corner going forward. The Browns head coach can make it out of this as long ownership stays on board.
