Cleveland Browns fans are split on how they feel about Baker Mayfield, to say the least. His latest comments may or may not go over so well.

On ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show, Mayfield said that he isn’t sure why he isn’t Cleveland’s quarterback anymore.

“I think I’m still confused too,” Mayfield said on why he isn’t with the Browns to McAfee.

Mayfield went on to kind of explain what happened in 2021 that led to him no longer being with the team.

"I think toward the end there I played in 2021 with a pretty much torn apart shoulder,” Mayfield said of the torn labrum he suffered early on. “I was excited to get the surgery, get healthy, and try to get back to that 2020 form.”

Cleveland traded Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers in the offseason before the 2022 season and he started six games there before he was cut. Then, Mayfield went on to play in five games with the Los Angeles Rams.

“That wasn’t their plan and I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason,” Mayfield said on the Browns moving him. “Now the roller coaster I went on after that, was a little bit nuts for me. It gave me a good perspective.

Now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mayfield is off to a 3-1 start with seven passing touchdowns to two interceptions.

Mayfield likely knew what he was doing when he said he was ‘confused’, the joke was easy to see. If this trend with the Bucs’ continues, perhaps Mayfield has turned his career around.
