We’re now at a dead period for the next month and that means the Cleveland Browns will not be back in Berea until training camp.

Until then, there is plenty to talk about. Every year it seems a player comes out of nowhere for the Browns and ends up being a very good bright spot. Coming into last season, tackle Dawand Jones was an under-the-radar player who ended up being a major piece of the offensive line.

Now, heading into 2024 a few players standout that could end up having an impact on the team despite being a bit overshadowed.

DT Mike Hall Jr.

Cleveland’s first pick in the NFL Draft was along the defensive line and it gave them one of the better interior pass rushers in the entire draft. The Browns were in a spot where they could go best player available and that’s what they did.

Hall will not have to line up as a Day 1 starter for the Browns and instead will be able to ease into the rotation. The amount he plays depends on the trust that Jim Schwartz has with him being out there early on.

If Hall can become a key 3-tech for the defense and be disruptive in the first year, that would be huge. Ideally, that is what the Browns get out of him in the first season.

RB D’Onta Foreman

Foreman coming in and taking over the snaps that Kareem Hunt had previously is a positive for the Browns. While Foreman doesn’t add as much in the passing game, he is a better pure runner than Hunt at this point in his career and that is what the Browns needed.

With uncertainty around Nick Chubb and when he will return, Foreman will be able to carry some of that workload until the Browns get their top running back onto the field. If Foreman can be productive behind this Browns’ offensive line, he could end up the second running back for the team ahead of Jerome Ford.

DE Alex Wright

Wright looked lost in his first season and he bounced back to be a totally different player in his second NFL season. As the No. 4 pass rusher for Cleveland, Wright has five sacks last season for the Browns.

If Wright can take another leap, the Browns are going to have to give him a lot more snaps. The third-year pass rusher is quality depth behind Myles Garrett and Za’Darius Smith and that is key for Schwartz’s system.
