Browns 2024 season’s success won’t depend on any offseason move, instead it’ll be someone already on the roster

The Cleveland Browns will be active in the offseason before we know it. While some of the moves will have an impact on the 2024 season, the Browns already know what it’ll take to reach ultimate success.

When I refer to ultimate success I mean making the playoffs and making a run. Coming within a game of the Super Bowl to winning it all would it the mold.

Ever since the Browns traded for Deshaun Watson, the hope was that they went out and got their franchise quarterback. They paid him like it with a fully guaranteed contract and gave up a ton to get him.

Since joining the Browns, Watson has played in just 12 games. That is not even a full season in two years with the team. First, it was the 11-game suspension, then it was the fracture in his shoulder in 2023.

While on the field, Watson did not exactly look great. The rust was there as expected and Watson put up 14-9 touchdowns to interceptions in his time with Cleveland so far. Before the injury, Watson was putting some solid play together and then he was done for the season.

In year No. 3 with the team, it is going to be time to perform with the Browns for Watson. If that doesn’t happen, the countdown will begin when Cleveland can get from underneath him.

The last three seasons have been adversity-filled for Watson and if he is going to break through, it is in 2024. Cleveland made the playoffs and won 11 games, but went no further than the wild card. The Cinderella story with Joe Flacco faded out and he tossed a pair of pick-sixes to the Houston Texans.

You can win with a good defense like the Browns have, but you can win because of a good offense led by good quarterback play. If Cleveland wants to do a lot of winning and perhaps a playoff run, it’s going to ride on just how good Watson can be in 2024 back healthy.
