One aspect of the Cleveland Browns’ defense is the best there’s been through five games in over 50 years.

Through five games played, the Browns’ defense has given up a total of 1,002 total yards. That number is the least given up in more than a half-century.

In the offseason, the Browns hired Jim Schwartz to lead their defense and he’s been a huge piece to the puzzle that is working. That along with the additions to the defense, Cleveland has the best unit in the NFL so far.

Against the 49ers in Week 6, Cleveland held them to just 215 total yards to move to 3-2. Coming into it, the 49ers were third in the NFL with 411 yards per game. Specifically, the 49ers walked away with 107 passing yards against Cleveland. The Browns lead the NFL with just 125 passing yards a game allowed.

It was a dominant performance for the Browns that led them to a big win that no one saw coming. So far in Cleveland, Jim Schwartz deserves his flowers.
