Week 16 brought NFL fans one of the better wide receiver performances they have ever seen.
Now, the NFL is recognizing that performance. Cleveland Browns WR Amari Cooper has been named the AFC Player of the Week after torching the Houston Texans for 265 yards, 11 catches, and a couple of scores.
Cooper showed off the chemistry that he has quickly built with QB Joe Flacco in Week 16 to the fullest extent. The Pro Bowl-level wideout had a catch of 53 yards on the very first place from scrimmage and reeled in a 75-yard touchdown later in the game.
Overall, Cooper was targeted 15 times on the day that he broke the Browns’ franchise record for yards in a game. The Texans did not have an answer for stopping him, as the Browns fed the hot hand all game long.
It was the fourth time that Cooper has gone over 200 yards in his career and only six players have done that in NFL history. Additionally, Cooper is the first wideout to win the award with three different teams.
After a highlight reel of a game that won’t be forgotten for years to come, Cooper has received proper notice for going all out against the Texans.
Browns’ Nick Chubb’s dominance is still glaring despite missing most of 2023 season
Now this is an impressive number.
