The last time that Amari Cooper played in an NFL game, it was one of the most special showings you’ll see modern day.

In Week 16, Cleveland Browns WR Amari Cooper torched the Houston Texans for a team-record 265 receiving yards, as well as two scores.

Cooper hurt his heel that game and the Browns decided to rest him the final two games. Cleveland made the choice right there and it could bode well for the Browns against the … Texans.

Going into the Wild Card matchup on Saturday, Cleveland’s top wideout has to be chomping at the bit to face the Texans once again. Cooper put the performance on in front of Houston fans and will once again be playing in front of them.

Somehow, QB Joe Flacco has beat Father Time and is playing some of the best football of his career. The veteran quarterback has built a special form of chemistry with Cooper — the two look like they’ve been playing together for years.

Against Houston the first go around, Flacco threw the ball to Cooper on 15 of his 38 routes that he ran on a pass play, per Pro Football Focus. Cooper had game-breaking ability after the catch in that game and was deemed to be a problem when in the open.

Previously, Cooper had only played the Texans twice in his career and was averaging just four catches and 48.5 yards receiving. Houston’s top cornerback is Derek Stingley, who Cooper didn’t beat on his two plays or at least 50 yards. Stingley did receive his fair share of work from Cooper, though.

One would imagine that the Texans plan to bracket Cooper a bit and throw some extra attention his way when they can. There is no way they want him going for nearly 300 yards again.

Still, the Browns have a wide receiver with the last name of Cooper who wears No. 2. Houston has a very talented player in Nico Collins, but he isn’t quite ready to go route for route with Cooper yet. Don’t be surprised if Cooper has another big game against the Texans and the Browns roll.
