Unfortunate news has come about for the Cleveland Browns ahead of their Week 2 game.

Cleveland is not expected to play wide receiver Amari Cooper against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football with a groin issue, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Cooper suffered a groin/hamstring injury in practice on Saturday in preparation for the Steelers. In the off-season, Cooper had core muscle surgery and felt 100 percent coming into the season. The Browns listed Cooper as questionable to play on Monday, but it now looks like he’s more so doubtful.

It would be a big hit for Cleveland, who would be without their No. 1 wide receiver in Pittsburgh. The Browns would have Elijah Moore and Donovan Peoples-Jones as the top two wideouts. This injury presents an opportunity for rookie Cedric Tillman, who you can bet will have his first catch in Week 2.

The injury with Cooper isn’t expected to be serious, a source tells A to Z. This is more of a precautionary thing if he was to miss, as the Browns still believe they can get the job done on offense.

Cooper had 1,160 receiving yards with Cleveland last year to lead the team with ease. His loss evens the playing field with the Steelers to be without their No. 1 wideout Diontae Johnson.

Now, the Browns will have to look to move to 2-0 without one of their top playmakers potentially. If others can step up, there won’t be an issue.
