We are a week away from the 2025 NFL Draft and the Cleveland Browns finally having a first-round pick again.
Cleveland has various needs on their roster and has to make this pick a success at No. 2 overall.
The consensus belief is that the Browns will take Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter, so of course GM Andrew Berry was asked all about him during his pre-draft media availability on Thursday. Berry went as far as comparing who Hunter is as a player to the best player in the MLB.
“It’s a little bit like [Shohei] Ohtani. Pitcher or hitter, he’s an outstanding player,” Berry said. You get a unicorn if you use him both ways.”
Berry has long been enamored by the player that Hunter is and has watched him work out closely more than once. After the offense struggled so badly last season, the Browns badly need an influx of talent on that side of the football. With no quarterback worth being the pick at No. 2, Hunter makes a ton of sense to be the selection.
Cleveland views the talented player and former No. 1 overall recruit in the country as a wide receiver first but they aren’t going to limit him to that side of the football.
"We would want to be smart about how we started him out,” Berry stated. “His first home [is] at receiver, his second home [is] on the defensive side of the ball."
Hunter cleared 1,200 yards receiving for the Buffaloes in 2024 while intercepting four passes on the other side of the ball. He can be a difference maker for Cleveland wherever he is and that is just what they need.
Next Thursday night will be the time to finally see who the Browns are taking with their top pick. Visits and workouts are over and the real thing is just about here.
