Cleveland Browns made a statement in Week 1 with a big victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

With the 24-3 win, the Browns won their first season opener at home in 19 years, since 2004 to be exact.

Cleveland dominated throughout and took over in the second half. This is a big win for the Browns to start the season to build confidence.

Let’s take a quick look at some notes from the game:

  • Browns made life tough for Joe Burrow and the Bengals’ offense throughout this one. Myles Garrett and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo recorded sacks but the amount of pressure throughout the game was a big difference.
  • Jack Conklin was carted off with a possible significant injury. In the wake of that, rookie right tackle Dawand Jones stepped in and played better than you could ask.
  • Grant Delpit was just one part of the entire secondary that had themselves a game against the Bengals. Cincinnati’s top target Ja’Marr Chase had just 39 receiving yards.
  • Dustin Hopkins made three kicks against the Bengals from 43, 42, and 34 yards. An important development for the Browns considering the weather wasn’t the best. If Cleveland has their kicker, that’s one thing off the list.
  • Watson did not have the best day passing the ball but his legs were a factor. Watson ran the ball five times for 45 yards and a touchdown.
  • Nick Chubb did what he usually does and that’s run the football hard. Chubb had 18 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown.
  • Watson threw a touchdown pass to Harrison Bryant, as well as an interception off a tipped pass.
  • Cleveland held Tee Higgins to zero catches.
  • Burrow finished 14-of-31 for 82 yards against Cleveland.
  • Elijah Moore led the Browns in receiving with 43 yards on three catches. Additionally, Moore had 19 rushing yards on 2 totes.
